Job Title: Project Manager - HIS
Role Overview
The HIS Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering Hospital Information System (HIS) projects across the organization. This includes managing end-to-end implementation, system integration, stakeholder alignment, and ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, and budget while maintaining compliance with healthcare standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Execution
- Lead end-to-end HIS implementation project with associated integration (EMR, EHR, QMS, IVR etc)
- Define scope, deliverables, and success criteria with stakeholders
- Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and milestones
- Ensure adherence to project governance, methodologies, and PMO standards
2. Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary point of contact between business, clinical teams, vendors, and TIDES
- Manage communication with senior leadership and executive stakeholders
- Ensure alignment with healthcare operations, regulatory requirements, and business objectives
3. Vendor & Partner Management
- Coordinate with HIS vendors and third-party providers
- Manage contracts, deliverables, SLAs, and performance tracking
- Ensure vendor compliance with agreed scope and timelines
4. System Integration & Interoperability
- Oversee integrations between HIS and external/internal systems (ERP, CRM, insurance, labs, radiology systems, etc.)
- Ensure HL7/FHIR standards and interoperability frameworks are implemented
- Collaborate with integration teams for API specifications and system connectivity
5. Risk & Issue Management
- Identify project risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans
- Track issues and escalate where required
- Ensure timely resolution to prevent delays
7. Change Management, Testing & Quality Assurance
- Drive change management initiatives across clinical and non-clinical users
- Oversee SIT, UAT, and go-live readiness activities
- Ensure system meets functional and regulatory requirements
- Validate data migration and system performance
8. Reporting & Governance
- Provide regular status reports (progress, risks, KPIs)
- Conduct steering committee updates
- Ensure project documentation is maintained accurately
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Healthcare Informatics, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- PMP / PRINCE2 / Agile certification preferred
- 7–12+ years of project management experience
- 3–5+ years specifically in HIS / healthcare IT projects
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of any one HIS platforms (Cerner, Epic, InterSystems, Oracle Health, etc.)
- Knowledge of healthcare workflows (clinical, billing, insurance)
- Experience with:
- HL7, FHIR standards
- API integration
- Data migration strategies
- System interoperability
Preferred Experience
- Experience in hospital or multi-facility implementations
- Exposure to digital transformation programs
- Experience working within regulatory healthcare environments (e.g., NPHIES, HIMSS standards)
