Quantity Surveyor

**Job Title:** Quantity Surveyor **About the Role:** We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our South African team. The successful candidate will manage cost estimation, contract administration, and cost control processes across a variety of construction projects. You will collaborate with clients, contractors, and design teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. **Responsibilities:** - Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow forecasts for construction projects - Perform material measurement, take-offs, and bill of quantities preparation - Compile tender documentation, evaluate contractor bids, and manage procurement processes - Administer contracts, process interim valuations, and negotiate final accounts - Monitor project costs, identify variances, and implement corrective actions to control budget - Conduct value engineering exercises to optimize cost efficiency - Produce regular financial reports, forecasts, and cost analyses for stakeholders - Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors to resolve commercial and contractual issues - Ensure compliance with South African building standards, contract conditions, and regulatory requirements **Required Qualifications:** - Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or related field - 4–10 years of relevant quantity surveying experience in the construction industry - Proven technical expertise in cost estimation and measurement techniques - Proficiency with MS Excel and industry-standard cost management software (e.g., CostX) - Strong knowledge of South African building standards and contract forms (SANS, JBCC, NEC) - Excellent analytical, numerical, communication, and negotiation skills **Preferred Qualifications:** - Candidate or Professional registration with SACQSP - Experience with specialized software such as PriTes or Exactal - Background in infrastructure, residential, or commercial projects - Advanced certification in project or construction management (e.g., PMP) - Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience - Familiarity with value engineering and risk management methodologies
